E-Mail Bridges

With not-so-typical bass lines, Bridges’ playing is rhythmic and artsy. Studying under jazz great Jeff Berlin at the Players School of Music gave him a great foundation from which to develop a more creative style. Knowing when to play and when to hold back makes Bridges a master at adding color and space to the softer songs, and pure groove to the more up-tempo numbers.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a musician?
I can remember picturing myself on stage as early as first grade, although I didn't start playing until much later.

Who are your musical influences?
Everyone I've ever heard, really, whether I liked them or not, because if I didn't like them, at least I knew I wouldn't play like that.

If you could jam with a dead person, who would it be?
The late members of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

If you could jam with someone currently breathing, who would it be?
Willie Nelson

Musical philosophy:
Study music, harmony, theory, ear training, etc., and strive to become a musician first, no matter what instrument you play. I believe this because it's been passed on to me by awesome musicians whom I admire and trust.
